Dominic Marshall

Founding Member, Joint Lead and Trustee

Dr Dominic Marshall is a Respiratory Specialist Registrar at Imperial College Health Care Trust, an Academic Clinical Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute and an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.

Dr Marshall was awarded first class honours and distinction for professional placement from the University of Bath, completing a degree in Molecular and Cellular biology. As part of this degree he worked in a molecular drug hunting team with a focus on tau-based therapies for Alzheimer’s disease for the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. Subsequently he completed his medical studies at Imperial College London for which he ranked first in each and every year of study, was awarded 13 academic prizes and nominated for the London Gold Medal. During this degree he designed novel antimicrobial agent for which he was awarded funding and a patent as been filed with research ongoing. He has now completed full MRCP.

His current research interests are focused within two broad themes. Using machine learning techniques to analyse large clinical intensive care and respiratory data to identify novel phenotypes and treatments within these populations. The second theme is using international health data to describe mortality trends and compare disease burden between countries with a focus on respiratory disease.

To date he has over 40 peer-reviewed publications, an H-Index of 16 and ~1100 citations. Publication highlights include first author papers in the European Respiratory Journal, the British Medical Journal and Critical Care Medicine.
